BURLEIGH HEADS, QUEENSLAND

Need a quick 3 or 4 day sun vacay? Located only 20 mins from Coolangatta Airport, Burleigh Heads is the ultimate Goldie getaway. Once you’ve arrived and unpacked, your biggest problem in Burleigh is having enough time to get to every restaurant, bar and café. Forget the beach time, you are going to need a lot of dedicated eating and drinking time, the food scene up here is THAT GOOD.

The Goldie has had something of a renaissance over the last few years, with seriously smart food and bev operators creating sophisticated restaurant and bar experiences and caféspaces to supplement the stunning stretches of beach, blue water and sunshine. Surf shops sit alongside an exploding coffee scene, with every one of the beach side suburbs along the coast boasting great café culture. Good thing the beach path stretches the length of the Gold Coast so you can walk or run your indulgences off each morning…it is all about balance right.

BUT FIRST AND ALWAYS COFFEE

I am such a coffee creature of habit and I truly feel sorry for any new place I visit…my order of a double shot half full latte in a takeaway cup can send the best of them rolling their eyes. When I say I had the second-best coffee to my daily local, it is no small statement. It was THAT GOOD.

TARTE BAKERY AND CAFÉ
Insta heaven for foodies, the coffee was a 15 out of 10, the breakfast and lunch menus were incred and the cakes and pastries next level. Tarte.com.au

SEADOG
Tucked into a shipping container on the grounds of the Burleigh Bowls Club. Strong coffee in a gorgeous location under the Norfolk pines to start your morning. Yes please.

BURLEIGH PAVILION KIOSK

EATING & DRINKING YOUR WAY UP THE COAST

Tarte Bakery and Café
Burleigh Heads. The pastries and tarts and amazing coffee are just the start, their breakfast and lunch menu is innovative, crazy delicious and very generous in size. We ate there four mornings in a row.

Tarte Beach House
Currumbin. We changed our Tarte mornings up and visited the Tarte Beach House on the river in Currumbin, stunning setting and you know it, the food was equally just as next level as location.

Burleigh Pavilion
the hospo OG that really put Burleigh 2.0 on the culinary map. The Pav balcony has the best views and coldest beer on tap in town. Casual and welcoming, the food is awesome and a masterclass in how this style of casual and relaxed large-scale eating should be done. The Tropic is the more elevated restaurant with a menu to match and the spot you want to be come sunset. Rick Shores is down below – sitting in a cave on the water’s edge, get a booking if you can.
